250 Hours of Pickleball

The Goal

Collectively accumulate at least 250 hours of pickleball play at the Glenwood Vine Street Courts during the 9 days of Glenwood’s 250th American birthday festivities. The club will donate $1 per hour of play, up to $250, to the Glenwood American Legion post.

The Plan

  • From June 27th through July 5th, two 2-hour sessions of open daily play has been scheduled (9-11 am and 6 - 8 pm).

  • Play is open to all skill levels for anyone aged 14 and older.

  • Everyone participating will record the hours they played on the white board at the courts.

  • Paddles will be provided for anyone who does not have one.

  • Participants should register to play on the free PlayTimeScheduler app.

How Play Is Managed

A “next-up” paddle holder for the courts has been built and installed. This will facilitate the “open play” format we will use instead of the regular, prearranged round robin format. Players will place their paddles in the court-side paddle rack and the order of paddles determines who plays next on an open court. If the courts are full, each foursome will play their game to 11 points, then move off the court and be replaced by the four players whose paddles are first on the rack. Players who have completed their game can place their paddles back on the rack to play again during the next rotation.
